Choose your rope
Two or three questions about how you climb or work. At the end you get specific ropes from our catalogue, a recommended length, and an honest note on what you are trading away.
I know exactly what I want → go straight to the catalogueWhat do you need the rope for?
Everything else follows from this.
Why we ask
Climbing and work ropes follow two different standards. EN 892 is a dynamic rope that stretches in a fall and softens the impact. EN 1891 is a static rope with almost no stretch — for ascent, rappelling and positioning. A static rope has no place in climbing where a fall is possible. Ever.
Could anyone fall on this rope?
The one question you can always answer — and the line the whole range splits along.
Why we ask
A dynamic rope (EN 892) stretches in a fall and softens the impact. A static rope (EN 1891) has almost no stretch — it is for ascent, rappelling and positioning, not for catching falls. This is the one decision we cannot make for you, because it is a safety decision.
Neither one fits, or you are still unsure? Tell us what you work with. We make the ropes in Bolatice and advise straight from the factory.
Get help choosingWhere do you climb most often?
Pick where you spend most of your time. The rope will handle the rest too, just with a trade-off.
Why we ask
This decides the diameter and whether you need one rope or two. If you fall a lot and grind the rope over rock, you want it thicker. If you haul it uphill all day, you want it lighter. You cannot have both.
Will the rope stay indoors, or go outside too?
This decides the treatment — and the price.
Why we ask
Indoors, treatment is money wasted — the rope never gets wet. Outdoors it is the opposite: a wet rope is weaker, heavier and turns into a pipe in the cold. Gym ropes are therefore cheaper and usually a bit thicker, because indoors abrasion matters more than weight.
How hard is the rope's life?
We are not asking how well you climb. We are asking what the rope goes through.
Why we ask
A thicker rope takes more falls and more abrasion, but it is heavier and clumsier to handle. A thinner rope clips better and drags less, but wears out faster and runs quicker through the belay device. Between 9 mm and 10 mm there is almost half a kilo over 60 m.
Co tě v horách čeká nejčastěji?
Vícedélky a ledovce chtějí každé jinou délku lana.
Why we ask
What do you do with the rope most often?
We select by load and abrasion, not by brand.
Why we ask
A static rope barely stretches, so the sheath does all the work. The more it runs over edges and the more weight hangs on it, the thicker it should be. A lighter static rope only pays off where you walk a lot and hang little.
What will the rope be used for?
That decides the diameter and the durability.
Why we ask
The difference between a 9 mm and a 13 mm static rope is not strength — all of them meet EN 1891. It is how much abrasion they take, how they handle in gloves and what they weigh in the pack.
Water, or mud?
Caving and canyoning look similar, but the rope solves a completely different problem.
Why we ask
A caving rope is built against abrasion from clay and sand and has to clean well. A canyoning rope has to cope with being wet all day, absorb little and dry fast. You can swap them, but the service life will drop.

Where do you travel for it?
A rope that is too short is the one selection mistake that can actually put you in danger. When in doubt, go longer.
We can cut a custom length to order.
Half and twin ropes are bought as a pair. The price on the card is for one rope. You cannot climb on a single half rope.

How we choose
No artificial intelligence. This guide runs on twenty-four rules we wrote by hand, based on the standard and on what people actually ask us. It turns your answers into catalogue filters — certification type, diameter and treatment. Nothing more.
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skály | jednoduché (dynamické) | 9,4–9,9 mm | 60–70 m | Lana na skály |
| Lezecká stěna | jednoduché (dynamické) | 9,8–10,4 mm | 30–40 m | Lana na stěnu |
| Hory a vícedélky | poloviční / dvojité | 7,8–8,6 mm | 50–60 m | Lana do hor |
| Ledovec, skialp | poloviční / dvojité | 7,8–8,6 mm | 30–40 m | Lana do hor |
| Speleo, canyoning | statické, typ A/B | 9–10,5 mm | dle terénu | Speleo & canyoning |
Impregnace a úpravy
Impregnace chrání lano před vodou a nečistotami — mokré lano je těžší a rychleji se opotřebuje. TENDON používá tři úpravy: základní Standard, ekologickou Eco Shield bez PFC a plnou impregnaci jádra i opletu Complete Shield.
Mezinárodní horolezecká federace — její bezpečnostní štítek doplňuje evropské normy EN 892 a EN 1891 o přísnější testy.
